SACRIFICIAL MICROFIBER TECHNIQUE FOR VASCULARIZATION
Our lab is focused on the development of a tissue engineered three-dimensional skin flap which contains a hierarchical network of vascularized micro channels capable of microsurgical anastomosis to provide whole tissue perfusion.

This project aims to utilize the proangiogenic potential of intermittent hypoxia on endothelial cells to induce sprouting and capillary bed formation in tissue engineered constructs for dermal replacement.
DECELLURIZATION OF TISSUE
We have been the first to demonstrate successful perfusion based decellularization of a vascularized skin flap, and continue on the work with recellularization strategies for dermal and renal tissue into fibrovascular flaps.
